In addition to the faculty adviser, Dr. Matthew Bolton, the Pace NYC Model UN program is co-facilitated by Head Delegates. Our Head Delegates for the 2017/2018 academic year are:
Joseph Colella: “I am a junior Political Science and Economics dual major and Peace & Justice Studies minor at Pace University’s New York City campus. I will be participating in my fourth semester with the Pace NYC Model UN team, and my first year as a Head Delegate. After participating in conferences in New York, Washington D.C., and Edinburgh, I am very excited to return and assist the next generation of the Model UN team in our next conferences. Participating in our conferences provides students of any discipline real-world training in essential skills to succeed in most major industries. Public speaking, teamwork, research, policy writing, and negotiation are all combined into one class that has been a hallmark of Pace’s success for over sixty years, and an absolute joy to complete. I cannot wait to help students empower themselves to bring change to their society and enjoy the process as well.”
Mary-Lynn Hearn: “Hi everyone! I am a junior at Pace University with a major in Political Science and minors in Criminal Justice and Peace and Justice Studies. This is my third semester with the MUN class and my first year as a head delegate. I am honored to be a head delegate for this coming year and I’m excited to see what this year brings with new and old delegates! MUN has been one of the highlights of my college experience thus far. It has allowed me to travel to DC and Edinburgh, Scotland, make new friends, and learn more about international relations. This class is highly unique and offers students a hands-on experience in learning about the United Nations and its Member States. I can’t wait to step into this new role as head delegate and experience the class in a new way!
Nigina Khaitova: “United Nations is my biggest passion in life. Entering my senior year at Pace University NYC, I double major in Political Science and Peace and Justice, and double minor in Women’s and Gender Studies and Philosophy. As an international student from Uzbekistan, my first acquaintance with the Model UN world happened when I was twelve years old. I have received a unique year-long-experience interning for the UN Information Office in Uzbekistan. Once I moved to New York to study at Long Island University Post my freshman year, I opened my own Model UN Club on campus, and became extremely impressed with the way Model UN Conferences are organized in the US. With Pace NYC Model UN class, I have already been at six MUN Conferences, including two international ones in Geneva and Edinburgh. I am very honored to continue interning for the UN-affiliated organizations in NYC every semester. Observing how the UN operates in real life, makes me appreciate the Model UN experience even more. Serving as a head delegate is one of my most favorite tasks. I truly enjoy facilitating students in learning about international relations and diplomacy. What I love about Model UN is that everyone can find their field of interest within a wide range of the UN divisions. I believe that acquiring diplomatic skills and knowledge about various states and cultures is a strong asset which can contribute to both personal and career development.”
Megan Zubar: “I am a junior Sociology and Anthropology and Peace and Justice Studies double major and Political Science minor at Pace University. This will be my fourth semester with the Pace Model UN team and my first year being a head delegate. Model UN has taught me lots in my year of experience. The class fosters a community of leaders and teaches students valuable skills in international politics, researching and public speaking. I believe these skills assist students in becoming stronger individuals in and outside of the classroom. I look forward to aiding in formulating these skills in students in the upcoming semesters while also expanding my own knowledge of the as well.”
